  1. My wife and I are going to Verona to camp in August . Could you verify the date of the yard crawl for me ?

  2. This page “What’s the Route 11 Yard Crawl?” lists that pets are welcome. The 2010 brocure I printed out states “Please no pets”. Can you please tell me which is correct? Thank you.
Also is it hard to get a hotel room that weekend or should we make early reservations somewhere?

    1. Linda – people do bring their dogs, however, please keep in mind that most businesses do not allow dogs in their shops and restaurants.

  3. We have our hotel reservations already for Friday night so we can hit the Route early Saturday morning. Last year was our first year doing it so we were a bit naive about it. We headed out from Northern VA early Saturday morning but realized the Crawl deserved more effort. We decided we wanted a head start this year so we got the hotel room. Cannot wait!!! I am looking for totally different things than I was last year and the treasure hunt aspect alone is worth going!

  4. Thanks for the info. Just got back from expanded crawl of nearly 50+ miles this August 14, 2010. Got lots of great stuff, and met lots of nice people. If you like yard sailing, do go!

  5. Terry – Your post from last year just showed up which is why no one responded.

This year’s Route 11 Yard Crawl is Saturday, August 13th. If you are interested in writing an article for this year’s event, please let us know and we will put you in touch with the person to speak with.

  6. My husband and I stumbled upon the yard crawl in 2009 and had a great time. We’re going for the 3rd time this year; in fact, we’re planning our drive to NC for vacation around the yard crawl date. Last year I scored big with black leather boots for $8.00 and a gorgeous designer ball gown for $15.00. It’s definitely worth the drive!

  7. I went to the Yard Crawl this year (August 13,2011). I had a great time and I would also suggest you get a room. Many places were already set up on Friday. We filled half the car Friday went to our hotel and reorganized our purchases and made enough room to have more fun on Saturday. The only thing I would like to see would be more porta potties. We are planning to make this a yearly trip.

  8. I found a piece of food heaven on the 2012 crawl. If you eat organic and rarely indulge in fast foods or a meal without something green in it, it can be difficult to find GOOD food when traveling. Cristina’s Cafe in Strasburg, plan your crawl/trip with a stop there. Not only is the food excellent, the staff who were inundated with crawlers and their regular Saturday clientele were kind, patient and informative. I took an extra meal to go so that I was assured of having good food to eat later in the day.

  9. 2012 – Great Year @ The Crawl. We stocked up on our 2 year old’s clothes for her next 2 years! Great prices and even better people!
